Annex 4

SUBJECT COMBINATIONS

1  Contents


As laid down in the second paragraph of Section 5 of Chapter 6 this annex lists the subjects that may be combined for the award of a Master of Arts/Science in Secondary Education.

2  Primary school grades 7—9


The subjects for specialisation for primary school grades 7—9 are divided into the following subject groups:
  1. English, Mathematics, Home Languages and Swedish
  2. Art, Domestic and Consumer Studies, Physical Education and Health, Music and Handicrafts
  3. English, Modern Languages, Home Languages and Swedish as a Second Language
  4. Geography, History, Religion and Civics
  5. Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Technology
  6. English, Modern Languages, Home Languages, Swedish, Swedish as a Second Language and Sign Language
  7. Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Technology   

The subjects that may be combined for specialisation for primary school grades 7—9 are the following:

  1. one subject from subject group 1 and two others from subject groups 3, 4, or 5 or alternatively two different modern language subjects from subject group 3
  2. one subject from subject group 2 and two subjects from subject groups 4, 6 or 7
  3. the subjects Art and Handicraft from subject group 2 and one subject from subject groups 4, 6 or 7
  4. three subjects from subject group 4 or subject group five, and
  5. two of the subjects Swedish, Social Studies and Music.

3  Upper-secondary school


The subjects for specialisation for the upper-secondary school are divided into the following subject groups:
  1. English, Mathematics, Home Languages and Swedish
  2. English, Greek, Latin, Modern Languages, Home Languages, Swedish as a Second Language and Sign Language
  3. Philosophy, Business Economics, Geography, History, Law, Psychology, Religion and Civics
  4. Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Science Studies and Technology
  5. Physical Education, and
  6. Art, Dance, Music and Drama

The subjects that may be combined for specialisation for the upper-secondary school are the following:

  1. one subject from subject group 1 and another subject from subject groups 2, 3, or 4
  2. two subjects from subject groups 2, 3 or 4, or alternatively two different modern language subjects from subject group 2
  3. Physical Education and one subject from subject groups 1, 2, 3 or 4
  4. one subject from subject group 6 and one subject from subject groups 1, 2, 3 or 4, and
  5. one subject from subject group 6 and an additional 90 credits in an elective subject area within subject group 6
