Swedish Universities & University Colleges — Short version of Annual Report 2010

This is a summary in English.

Higher education in Sweden is provided at some fifty universities, university colleges and other institutions that vary greatly in size and degree of specialisation. The summary of the Swedish Universities & University Colleges - Short version of Annual Report 2010 gives an outline picture of higher education activities in Sweden.

2009 was characterised by a substantial expansion of education at the first and second-cycle levels. The relevant age groups were at their peak in this year and, at the same time, the economic recession impeded entry into the labour market. As a result, the number of entrants into higher education broke all records.
