The short version of the 2008 annual report presents an outline of the Swedish higher education sector. The report focuses on the activities of the past year but also describes long term trends and developments.
The report shows that the number of applicants to higher education has increased for the second year running. The previous downward trend in applications appears to have been halted. The increase is most probably linked to an increased cohort of young people leaving secondary school as well a strong increase in international applicants.
The report deals with tendencies within, for example, the labour market, higher education funding, and staff and student mobility. The report includes international comparisons.
