Prior to a visit, the Swedish National Agency for Higher Education (Agency) sends a questionnaire to the HEI and the Students´ Union. The questionnaire covers the legislation and regulations regarding student representation and consultation, course evaluations, course and programme specifications, processing times, the appeals procedure, approved leave from studies and records management.
This report is about the supervisory visit to MalmöUniversityCollege. The Agency is able to confirm, among other things, that the university college´s routines for monitoring the individual study plans of doctoral students were appropriate and of a good standard.
However, the Agency noted that the majority of course specifications stated that participation in course evaluations was compulsory. Whilst it is compulsory for HEIs to organize course evaluations, it is not compulsory for students to participate in them. A HEI may not stipulate that participation in course evaluations is compulsory.
